More than 700,000 Russian Soldiers at the Front Line
Ukraine Will Not Cede Territory, General Sirsky Says
Ukraine’s Stance on Peace Negotiations
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Sirsky stated that Ukraine will not accept a peace treaty with Russia that involves ceding any territory. He emphasized that a just peace can only be achieved by halting fighting along the current front line and than initiating negotiations.
Sirsky affirmed that Ukraine’s military will continue fighting if diplomatic efforts fail, warning that the outcome has implications for the entire European continent. He underscored the importance of defending ukrainian land, country, and people.
“Our main task is to defend our land, our country and our people,” Sirsky said. “Of course, it is not acceptable for us to simply give up and give up the territory. What does it even meen to give up our land? That is why we are also fighting not to give up our territory.”
He defined a just peace as one achieved without preconditions and without territorial concessions. “All wars eventually end, and of course we hope that this war will also end. And when it does, a just peace must be achieved. In my understanding, a just peace is a peace without preconditions, without surrendering territory,” Sirsky added.
Russian Military Deployment and Losses
Sirsky reported that Russia has deployed over 710,000 soldiers along the front line. He also stated that the Russian forces are suffering meaningful casualties, with approximately 1,000 to 1,100 soldiers killed or wounded daily.
Currently, the Russian army is attempting to advance along nearly the entire front line, according to the general.
