Morgan Wallen’s new album, I’m the Problem, has made a splash, debuting at Number One on the Billboard 200 chart. The country star’s latest LP earned 493,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. for the week ending May 22, marking the biggest album debut of the year.
This is Wallen’s third album to debut at Number One, following One Thing at a Time in 2023 and Hazardous: the Double Album in 2021. Both previous albums remain popular, with One Thing at a Time holding steady at Number Four and Dangerous at Number 12 this week.
Streaming played a critically important role in the album’s success. Of the 493,000 album units earned, 357,000 came from album streams, equating to 462.63 million on-demand official streams of the album’s 37 tracks, according to Luminate. This marks the largest streaming week for any album in 2025. Album sales also contributed, with I’m the Problem selling 133,000 copies in its first week, Wallen’s best sales week ever and the largest for a country album this year. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter had a bigger sales week when it debuted in April 2024, selling 168,000 copies.
Leading up to the album’s release, eight singles made the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Six of those tracks reached the Top 10, with “Love Somebody” hitting Number One in November and the title track debuting at Number Two in February.
Elsewhere on the chart, SZA’s SOS moved up to Number Two with 47,000 units earned. Jin of BTS debuted at Number Three with Echo, earning 43,000 units. Wallen’s One Thing at a time held at Number Four with 42,000 units, and Kendrick Lamar’s GNX jumped to Number Five with 41,000 units.
