Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Technical Exchange
On September 6, 2024, discussions between Egyptian and Moroccan delegations, led by Ambassador Abdel Latif and Mr. Kayouh respectively,highlighted a shared vision for enhanced cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of increasing technical exchanges and specialized missions to share best practices in essential areas of transport and logistics. This commitment extends to reciprocal support for each other’s candidacies within international organizations.
Trans Mea 2025 and Regional Infrastructure development
Ambassador Abdel Latif presented the sixth edition of the Salon and Forum of Industry, Smart Transport and Logistics for the Middle East and Africa (Trans Mea 2025), scheduled to be held in Cairo from November 9 to 11, 2025. Trans Mea is positioned as a leading regional event for examining the latest technological developments in the transport sector. The event aims to attract industry leaders and showcase innovations in intelligent transport systems.
The Egyptian delegation highlighted the meaningful investments made by the egyptian state in improving its infrastructure, especially in the development of its road and rail networks.Recent projects include expansions to the national highway system and upgrades to existing railway lines, aiming to improve connectivity and facilitate trade.
Rail Network Expansion and Technical Understanding
Mr. Kayouh detailed Morocco’s ongoing programs and projects related to the expansion of its rail network. Morocco has been actively investing in high-speed rail lines, with the ONCF (National Railway Office of Morocco) leading the charge.Discussions focused on potential areas for technical and industrial collaboration between the two countries in this domain. Specifically, they explored opportunities for joint ventures and knowledge sharing in rail infrastructure development and maintenance.
Morocco’s rail network currently spans over 2,300 kilometers, and the country aims to expand it further to connect major cities and economic hubs. The Al Boraq high-speed train, inaugurated in 2018, connects Tangier and Casablanca, reducing travel time considerably.

A key area of collaboration will involve the Arab Academy of Sciences, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and the Higher Institute of Maritime Studies (ISEM) of Morocco. joint training programs, faculty exchanges, and research initiatives are planned to enhance the skills of maritime professionals in both countries. AASTMT is a leading regional institution for maritime education and training.
