Morocco Takes Center Stage at the 4th Edition of ReCiCo
The Kingdom of Morocco will be in the spotlight at the 4th edition of the Cotonou Cinematographic and Digital Meetings (ReCiCo). The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Benin, SEM Rachid RGUIBI, invests in a strong participation of Moroccan experts and directors whose films compete.
ReCiCo 2024: A Celebration of African Cinema
The 4th edition of the Cotonou Cinematographic and Digital Meetings is scheduled to take place between October 5 and 12, 2024. This edition will feature screenings of films in competition, film debates, training workshops, and excellence awards for the best cinematographic works in competition.
During a press conference on Thursday, September 5, 2024, Dimitri S. FADONOUGBO, General Representative of ReCiCo, announced that Morocco will be the guest of honor at this edition with experts and directors whose films are competing. The Embassy of Morocco near Benin and Togo, with residence in Cotonou, has committed to its active participation.
African Cinema in the Spotlight
According to the organizers of ReCiCo 2024, the call for applications launched made it possible to register 117 films from 21 African countries and the diaspora. After the selection, 09 feature-length fictions, 26 short film fictions, 06 feature-length documentaries, and 08 short documentary films were selected. In the lot, there are 17 Beninese films.
Training Workshops and Conferences
For this edition, training workshops will be organized in script, acting, cinematography direction, and sound recording for the benefit of 294 candidates from 13 African countries. A conference on the theme “Cinema, an instrument in the fight against violent extremism” is also planned.
