The Moroccan government has estimated direct revenue generated by the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), held in Morocco, at more than 1.5 billion euros, which allowed it to prepare 80% of the infrastructure for the 2030 World Cup, which the country will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, highlighted a “double effect” in revenue and investment, driven by nearly 600,000 visitors specific to the tournament, which is part of a record year for Moroccan tourism with 20 million arrivals (+14%).
These flows have boosted transport,hospitality,restaurants and crafts,with an immediate injection of liquidity into the local economy.
Mezzour described the 2.3 billion euros invested in that edition of the CAN, which concluded last Sunday, as a “sovereign investment” in durable infrastructure, such as the nine stadiums built or renovated, as well as road networks, airports and services.
“We have gained a decade of growth in 24 months (…) and equipped the Kingdom with infrastructure that will serve citizens for the next 50 years,” he said.
He stressed that the impact on employment is “a source of pride”. The CAN, won by the Senegal team, created more than 100,000 jobs. “These are not just temporary jobs: thousands of young people have been trained to international standards, acquiring lasting employability beyond 2025,” he clarified.

He also added that the CAN accelerated technological conversion in Morocco with the deployment of 5G, digital identification systems, digital ticket sales and cybersecurity solutions. These initiatives helped reduce logistical costs and attract new investments.
