NANTES, France – For the third consecutive season, Nantes forward Mostafa Mohamed will reportedly not participate in the club’s match designated to raise awareness against homophobia. The Egyptian international previously declined to take part in the initiative in 2023, resulting in a financial penalty from the club. Last season, he also sat out the match against Monaco.
Mohamed Absent from Training, Citing Muscular issues
Mohamed did not train wiht the team Thursday. While coach Antoine Kombouaré cited “muscular problems” during a press conference, adding that the player was receiving treatment, other reports suggest a different reason for his absence. Kombouaré appeared visibly uncomfortable when addressing the situation.
Conflicting Reports Emerge regarding Reason for Absence
According to Ouest-France,Mohamed’s participation in the crucial Ligue 1 match against montpellier is uncertain. The outcome of the game will determine the fate of FC Nantes. However, RMC Sport reports that Mohamed will not play, alleging that he is refusing to participate in the match.
