Mother’s Scream: Police Response to Bleeding Death – True Crime Story
In the yard of a two-story house in Rusiec near Nadarzyn, you can see a small playground and a children’s climbing wall. There are Santa hats and other Christmas decorations on the fence in front of the entrance. The handwritten note at the entrance gate is addressed to parents of children who attend language school classes here. It will be closed until at least January 12.
The break in school activities is related to a crime that occurred in the same house on Monday. The police were alerted after 4 p.m. There was an argument between the former spouses, during which the woman was stabbed several times in the neck. Katarzyna still managed to call for help from her son, who was upstairs. The 27-year-old found his unconscious and bloody mother when he came downstairs.

The policemen who arrived at the scene tried to stop the massive bleeding, but to no avail. Katarzyna died on the spot.
The victim’s son later testified that he saw his father enter the apartment. After some time, he also heard his mother screaming for help. He then saw the suspect leaving the house. There is no doubt, because after a while the 52-year-old himself reported to the District Police Headquarters in Pruszków.
– The suspect identified himself, said what he had done and stated that the knife was in the car. Seeing the man’s bloody hands, the police arrested him and then joined the officers who were at the scene of the incident in Rusiec, says prosecutor Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, in an interview with WP.
The 52-year-old was arrested. He was interrogated on Tuesday.
– An investigation was initiated today. The man was charged with intentionally killing his ex-wife by stabbing her several times in the neck, which resulted in the victim’s death at the scene due to bleeding, says prosecutor Antoni Skiba.
Catherine sought help before her death. What did the police do?
The suspect faces 10 years to life in prison. But what also raises doubts in this case is whether law enforcement responded appropriately when the woman sought help.
– I didn’t know Ms. Katarzyna personally, but I heard a lot of good things about her, says Ms. Ewa, who works nearby. – But from what we hear, the situation with this ex-husband wasn’t just yesterday, it had been going on for a long time. She received some threats from him, apparently this ex-husband had a ban on approaching her. On Sunday, he sent her a text message: “I’m coming for you.” That is, the day before the tragedy – says the woman.
A close friend of Mrs. Katarzyna confirms this in an interview with WP.
– Kasia went to the police on average every week and reported threats. Nobody helped her. This matter requires clarification. He sent her messages threatening her. It was almost like counting down the days until he did it, says the woman, her voice breaking.
As WP found out, the police confirm that the woman did indeed report threats.
– Such notifications were submitted. The capital police commander ordered to check how the activities related to these notifications were carried out by the leading unit – says WP inspector. Robert Szumiata, spokesman for the commander.
Another woman, living a few houses away from the site of the tragedy, confirms the information about the threats. She admits that it is difficult for her to talk because she is from the victim’s close family.
As confirmed unofficially by WP, after the divorce, Katarzyna’s ex-husband actually had a ban on approaching her. Investigators and police have not provided any more information at this time. The police also did not comment on the information that Mrs. Katarzyna had previously reported threats she received from her ex-husband.
As WP learned, on December 4 last year, an indictment was brought to court against a man for sending criminal threats to life via an instant messenger. Unofficially, it is known that there was a very serious conflict between the former spouses regarding civil proceedings related to the division of property.
In addition to running a language school and an educational center at home in Rusiec, Mrs. Katarzyna also worked at the nearby Primary School in Wola Krakowiańska. She taught Polish, English and art there.
– This is a very painful and difficult time for us. It’s a loss for us, like a family loss, says Izabela Greszta, director of the primary school in Wola Krakowiańska.
