Women’s Doubles: A New Partnership and a Challenging First Round

Mayu Motodama, who previously lost in the second round of singles, continued to compete in the women’s doubles at the WTA Tour official tournament “Jasmine Open Tunisia” (WTA250 / Monastir, Tunisia / September 9-15 / total prize money of $267,082 / hard court). Motodama partnered with Elixane Lechemia (France) for the first time in this tournament, but unfortunately, they lost 6-7 (1) 4-6 to Anna Blinkova (Russia) and Mayal Sherif (Egypt) in the first round. The match lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Motodama had previously lost in the second round of singles to qualifier Sonay Kartal (Great Britain) 2-6, 2-6. Meanwhile, Blinkova and Sherif will next face Lucia Bronzetti (Italy) and Jodie Baresi (Great Britain) in the next round. Bronzetti and Baresi defeated top seeds Camila Rosatello (Italy) and Kimberly Zimmerman (Belgium) 7-5, 6-1 in the first round to advance.
