Tim Walz’s Motorcade Involved in Accident in Milwaukee
A multi-vehicle accident occurred in the motorcade escorting Democratic Vice Presidential candidate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in Milwaukee. Fortunately, Mr. Walz was not injured in the incident.
The accident happened at around 1pm on September 2nd, local time, according to the BBC. The cars involved in the accident were at the back of the motorcade and were carrying journalists accompanying Mr. Walz.
Reporters described being “thrown forward” after being hit from behind, causing their car to crash into the car in front of them. At least one person was injured in the accident, which occurred on Interstate 794. The cause of the crash is still unknown.
A White House official reported that Vice President Kamala Harris, Mr. Walz’s running mate, called to check on his well-being. Mr. Walz also received a call from President Joe Biden.

A reporter traveling with Mr. Walz stated that one person appeared to have a broken arm and was treated by paramedics. The vehicles involved in the accident stopped on the side of the road while the Democratic vice presidential candidate continued on to a scheduled event.
Tim Walz addressed the accident at a Labor Day event in Milwaukee. “A number of our staff and members of the press who were traveling with us were involved in a traffic accident on the way here today. I’m relieved that there were only minor injuries and everyone is going to be OK.” Walz thanked the Secret Service and local first responders “for their quick response.”
This incident highlights the risks associated with campaign motorcades. According to NPR, campaign vehicles are typically driven by campaign staff who may or may not have professional driving experience.
