Motorcyclist Dies During Enduro del Verano Competition in Villa Gesell
A 28-year-old man died in Villa Gesell while participating in the 31st edition of the Enduro del Verano, a prominent motorcycle and quad bike competition in South America. The accident occurred in a dune area north of the district.
The event is estimated to attract more than 1,300 riders and thousands of fans. The accident cast a shadow over the competitive day, according to reports from 0223 and Radio 10 Mar del Plata. The young man was reportedly traveling without a helmet or protective gear when he encountered a sudden drop in the dunes.
The fall was severe, and despite the rapid response of firefighters, the situation proved irreversible. Medical personnel arrived quickly and provided assistance to the young man, who was in critical condition.
Medics intubated him, administered adrenaline, and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during transport to the local hospital. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, and he arrived at the hospital without vital signs.
Another Serious Accident in Gesell Dunes
This incident follows another serious event just days prior: an influencer overturned a UTV vehicle in the dunes and was rushed to Mar del Plata. Her condition was critical, and she was recently transferred to a clinic in Buenos Aires for continued recovery.
The Enduro del Verano is a highly anticipated event for motorcycle and quad bike enthusiasts. However, the lack of protection and the risks associated with riding in the dunes have once again become a central point of discussion.
The tragedy this weekend has reignited concerns about safety in these types of competitions, promoting a more responsible culture, and the need to take extreme care to prevent further victims.
On January 23, 2025, another incident occurred in the area. Gabriel Cozzolino, 30, died after a head-on collision between his enduro motorcycle and a quad bike near Route 11, between Villa Gesell and Cariló, according to reports from Uno Santa Fe and Clarin. Vital Alberto Cazanave was the driver of the quad bike. Cozzolino was reportedly not wearing his helmet correctly at the time of the crash.
The area of the accident is near the “El Tarifa” motocross circuit and the Enduro de Verano course. This incident occurred shortly after a similar event in La Frontera, Pinamar, where a 19-year-old motorcyclist struck an 8-year-old child on the beach.
