A section of the N20 Limerick to Cork road has been closed this⁣ Tuesday morning ‌following a serious single-vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred in ‌the townland of ballyfookoon,situated between Croom ⁤and Patrickswell,shortly before 1 ​am. Gardai confirmed that the motorcyclist,a male in his 20s,was transported to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious injuries.

Road Closure and ‍Diversions Impacting Commuters

The ⁣N20 remains closed between​ the N21 and O’Rourke’s Cross to allow Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local ⁤diversions‌ have been put in place, but motorists have reported chaotic traffic conditions and important delays.

Emergency Response and Witness Appeal

A substantial emergency response was mounted, with eight fire appliances from stations in Limerick city, Rathkeale, and Kilmallock attending the scene. Firefighters​ from Kilmallock and Rathkeale were still present this morning.

Gardai are appealing to anyone‌ who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant camera footage, including dash-cam recordings from vehicles travelling in the area at the⁢ time,⁢ to come forward.
