Axl Roeroe, an officer at the Mount Ibu Observation Post, announced this warning in a statement on Saturday. He reported that Mount Ibu erupted again today at 11:55 a.m. local time. The eruption launched an ash column about 800 meters high, moving towards the southwest.
The maximum amplitude recorded during the eruption was 28 millimeters, lasting for one minute and five seconds, according to the seismogram data. Roeroe noted that a weak rumbling sound was heard from the observation post.
Currently, Mount Ibu holds a danger status of Level III. In case of ash rain, residents should wear face masks and glasses outdoors to protect themselves from ash exposure.
Roeroe also stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful community and discouraged spreading false information. He urged the West Halmahera district government to coordinate closely with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation for reliable updates.
