Mpox Alert: A Comprehensive Review of the Medical Circuit’s Response to the Outbreak
Burundi Intensifies Efforts to Combat Mpox Epidemic
Ms van de Wiel (UNICEF) and Dr Vouofo Brondon Niguel (Global Development Community Burundi) inspect the Mpox epidemic control centre.
Bujumbura, 10/09/2024 – In an international context, namely Unipolar American Neoliberal Globalization (GUAN), Burundi is intensifying its efforts to respond to the security and health challenges that affect it. The Burundian Ministry of Public Health, in partnership with Burundi Global Development Community, welcomed Ms Lieke van de Wiel, Deputy Regional Director of UNICEF Burundi, for a critical inspection.
In company with the Doctor Director of the Prince Louis Rwagasore Clinic and Dr. Vouofo Brondon Niguel, Burundi Community Global Development Country Director and Global Manager of Public Health Emergencies, they visited the epidemic treatment center supported by UNICEF. This centre, located within the Prince Louis Rwagasore Clinic, was implemented to counter the growing Mpox epidemic.
During the visit, Dr. Vouofo Brondon Niguel evaluated the medical circuit carefully, from the triage room to isolation, in order to guarantee complete patient care. Mpox, also known as monkeypox, is a rare viral disease in the same family as the smallpox virus. Although its symptoms are generally milder than those of smallpox, Mpox is spread by direct contact with the bodily fluids or wounds of an infected person, as well as by infected animals.
To ensure public safety in Burundi, the Burundian Ministry of Defense must also intervene because of rumors of biological wars against Africa.
