MSI has released the Cubi NUC AI+ 3MG, a mini PC designed to handle workplace AI tasks without the requirement of a full tower or a dedicated GPU. The system features a 0.5-liter chassis measuring 4.71 x 4.54 x 1.48 inches and weighs just over a pound.
The device is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 386H Panther Lake CPU with up to 16 cores. AI performance is measured in TOPS, or trillion operations per second, a key metric for productivity-enhancing features in AI-powered PCs.
The onboard NPU is rated for up to 50 TOPS, but when combined with the CPU and onboard Xe3 GPU cores, the system delivers a total of 100 TOPS. This capacity enables full support for Copilot+ features in Windows 11 and allows users to process tasks locally—such as generating email responses, touching up pictures, or beautifying video calls—to keep data secure and private.
To further optimize performance, the PC includes AI Engine software. This software automatically detects the active task and adjusts the display mode, sound effects, and performance based on scenarios such as gaming, work, meetings, or entertainment.
Hardware Specifications and Connectivity
The Cubi NUC AI+ 3MG starts with 16GB of high-speed memory, which is user-upgradable to 96GB. The system also supports Gen 5 M.2 storage to maintain responsiveness during daily operations.

Connectivity is handled through a variety of integrated ports, reducing the need for external docking stations. The system includes:
- Dual Thunderbolt 4 ports.
- Twin HDMI 2.1 outputs supporting up to four external 4K displays.
- A single 10GB USB-C port and two legacy USB-A ports on the front.
- Dual RJ45 connectors with 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet.
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 support.
Durability and Maintenance
The chassis is designed with tool-less access, allowing IT teams and users to perform routine servicing or upgrade the SSD and RAM without specialized tools.
For thermal management, MSI utilizes the Frozr AI Pro cooling solution to maintain airflow and low temperatures during sustained workloads, which is intended for 24/7 operation in control centers or server rooms.
The hardware is also tested to Mil-Std 810H standards to ensure reliability in real-world deployment environments.
Security and Environmental Standards
Security is integrated at the hardware level via dTPM 2.0 encryption. Physical security is provided by a Kensington Lock slot and a fingerprint reader built directly into the power button for authorized access without passwords.
The system is designed for sustainability, featuring a chassis made from post-consumer recycled plastic and production using almost 100% renewable energy.
The device is Energy Star certified with an average power consumption of 24W and carries EPEAT Silver certification.
Barebones configurations of the MSI Cubi NUC AI+ 3MG start at $569.
