MSMEDA Addresses Small Investor Challenges in Industrial Zones
MSMEDA Launches Nationwide Initiative to Empower SMEs and Drive Economic Growth
Egypt’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Growth Agency (MSMEDA) is undertaking a comprehensive nationwide campaign throughout August, deploying teams to industrial zones and production hubs to directly address teh challenges faced by small investors and accelerate SME growth. The initiative underscores MSMEDA’s commitment to fostering a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem and bolstering the national economy.
Led by CEO Bassel Rahmy, the agency’s branches across all governorates are conducting on-the-ground visits to pinpoint obstacles hindering small businesses. These visits are coupled with direct coordination with local authorities to implement swift resolutions and ensure access to vital financial and technical resources.
beyond field visits, MSMEDA is delivering a robust schedule of free training courses and awareness seminars designed to demystify state support mechanisms available to SMEs. These programs aim to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and equip existing business owners with the tools they need to succeed.
Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Knowledge and Access
The core objective is to encourage self-employment amongst citizens, especially young people, and provide a clear pathway to launching or expanding ventures. Training focuses on critical areas such as project establishment, feasibility study preparation, and securing financing – essential components for building sustainable businesses.
Rahmy emphasized the importance of understanding the legal framework supporting SMEs,specifically Law No. 152 of 2020 concerning the Development of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises, and Law No. 6 of 2025, which outlines tax facilitation measures. “We want to ensure every entrepreneur is aware of the incentives and benefits available to them,” he stated.
Formalizing the Informal Sector & Targeted support
A key focus of the initiative is integrating businesses currently operating in the informal sector into the formal economy. Awareness seminars are designed to motivate owners to register, enabling them to access crucial advantages like classification certificates and other legal protections. MSMEDA is actively urging citizens to leverage these resources by contacting their local branch or utilizing the agency’s hotline.
The campaign is being rolled out in close collaboration with governorates and universities, with a particular emphasis on reaching young graduates and women - demographics identified as key drivers of future economic growth.
