Egypt and Kuwait Strengthen Cooperation
Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Aati, visited Kuwait to enhance collaboration and regional security. Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to Gulf security, viewing it as essential to its national security.
The visit highlighted the historical ties between Egypt and Kuwait and their shared interests in security and military issues. Experts emphasized the importance of increased coordination across various sectors, especially given the substantial investments between the two nations.
Abdel Aati met with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled. He noted the strong bond connecting the two countries and expressed eagerness to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Kuwaiti investments in Egypt exceed $15 billion, with a significant portion from the private sector. Abdel Aati also met Kuwait’s Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah, discussing ways to broaden cooperative relations to benefit both nations.
Investment Opportunities
Abdel Aati presented various investment opportunities in Egypt, inviting Kuwaiti companies to explore them. He emphasized Egypt’s interest in security cooperation to address challenges effectively.
Furthermore, he met with Kuwait’s Finance Minister Noura Al-Fassam to promote Kuwaiti investment in Egypt and discussed the potential for Egyptian companies to contribute to Kuwait’s development efforts.
Dr. Mohammad Izz Al-Arab, a Gulf affairs expert, noted that the visit signifies Egypt’s goal to strengthen Arab relations, particularly with Kuwait, on both political and security levels.
Joint Coordination
The visit also aimed at improving coordination on regional and international issues. Kuwaiti investments play a crucial role in Egypt’s economy, which underscores the significance of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Kuwaiti political analyst Tariq Brosli remarked on the importance of the visit, especially with the upcoming Gulf Summit. Fahd Al-Shulami pointed out the timing’s significance amid ongoing regional crises, particularly the situation in Gaza.
Abdel Aati delivered a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to the Emir of Kuwait, highlighting the importance of their relationship and addressing recent regional developments.
