Interview with Coach⁤ Sarah Thompson⁢ of the Muhlenberg Women’s Basketball Team

News Director: Coach Thompson, congratulations on another impressive ‌win against ‌Eastern! Your team’s performance seems to be peaking at the right ⁢moment. How does‌ it feel to build a four-game ⁢winning streak?

Coach Thompson: ⁤Thank you! It’s⁣ definitely a great⁤ feeling. The team has really put in the effort and commitment during ⁢practice, and it’s rewarding to ‌see that translate into our games. Winning four in a row ⁣is⁢ an achievement we’re proud of, especially by such significant margins.

News⁣ Director: ‌Veronica Dawson had a standout ‌performance in her first home game, leading the ‌team with 16‌ points and 9 rebounds. How ⁤do ⁤you assess her impact on the team so⁣ far?

Coach Thompson: ‍Veronica has been phenomenal for us. Not only does ⁢she bring scoring ability, but‌ her⁢ energy on the boards⁢ is crucial. For a freshman, she shows great poise and understanding of the game.⁢ It’s exciting to see her develop right in front of ‍us, and I believe she’s ‌just getting started.

News Director: The team trailed by six in the second quarter⁤ but‌ clawed back to take the lead⁤ at halftime. What adjustments did‌ you make during the⁤ game ⁣to turn things around?

Coach Thompson: In⁢ the second quarter,⁣ we ‌focused on tightening our defense and making smarter choices offensively. That⁤ three-pointer from Mia Fitzgerald ⁢right before halftime was a momentum shifter.‍ It‍ helped us regain confidence,⁣ and we discussed ⁣the need ‍to keep‍ that intensity going in the second half.

News Director: The second half was particularly⁤ dominant, outscoring Eastern 36-12.‍ What do you attribute that defensive effort to?

Coach ⁣Thompson: Our defense has been a huge focus for us‌ lately. The players bought⁢ into the game plan and executed it ‍well, especially at the start of the half. Holding them to just one field goal in over five minutes was a testament to our commitment to defensive pressure and teamwork.

News Director: Looking ahead, your next game is against DeSales. What do you⁣ anticipate will be the biggest ⁣challenge⁣ in that matchup?

Coach Thompson: DeSales is always a competitive opponent. We’ll need to maintain our defensive discipline and continue executing‍ our offensive sets. It⁢ will be⁣ important ⁣to come out strong, especially since they⁣ will likely be looking to snap their losing streak against us. Our focus ‍will be on consistent effort and not underestimating any opponent.

News⁢ Director: Thank you for your ⁤time, Coach Thompson. Best of luck against⁣ DeSales!

Coach Thompson: Thank you! We’re excited‌ and⁤ ready to keep this momentum going.
The fourth quarter began with a 10-0 run for Muhlenberg, highlighted by three-pointers from sophomore Faith Tucker and McGrath, increasing the lead to 25 points.

Tucker finished with 9 points, and Punter had 7 rebounds. All four of Muhlenberg’s recent wins have been by at least 15 points. This is the first time since 2016 that the Mules have won four straight games by that margin.

Next, Muhlenberg will play at DeSales on November 23, 2024, at 1:00 PM.
