Munster Rugby Appoints Codling, Mayo to Key Coaching Role
Munster Rugby has announced key additions to its coaching staff. Alex Codling,who served in an interim role,will take on the forwards coach role permanently. Brad Mayo, formerly with the Hurricanes, joins as head of athletic performance. These appointments aim to strengthen the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
Codling’s permanent assignment begins Oct.1, following his commitment to the Ireland women’s team as their forwards coach at the Women’s Rugby World cup in england. His prior experience includes head coach at Newcastle Falcons, and coaching stints with the England men’s team, Harlequins, and Oyonnax. His diverse background is expected to bring a fresh outlook to Munster’s forward play and overall team role.
Mayo, bringing experience from Super Rugby and other elite environments, will start this summer. His resume includes work with the Brumbies, Bay of Plenty, the Chiefs, and Glasgow Warriors. His expertise is anticipated to significantly enhance Munster’s athletic performance program.
