The most critically important changes center around personal income tax, with several new deductions aimed at supporting residents across various life stages and needs. These deductions are designed to be easily accessible and offer tangible financial benefits.
Supporting Green choices: Electric vehicle & Charging Point Deductions
Murcia is incentivizing the adoption of electric vehicles with considerable tax deductions. Taxpayers can deduct up to €7,000 from their income tax for the purchase of a new electric vehicle. Furthermore, expenses related to installing a home charging point are also deductible, up to a maximum of €4,000. This initiative supports the region’s commitment to lasting transportation and reduces the cost of going electric.
Family Focused Relief: Glasses,Contact Lenses & Rare Disease Treatment
Two new deductions specifically target family wellbeing. Expenses incurred for prescription glasses, contact lenses, and cleaning solutions for children under 12 are now deductible, offering valuable support to parents. Recognizing the significant financial challenges faced by families dealing with rare diseases, a new deduction is also available for expenses related to the treatment and care of individuals affected by rare diseases, ensuring they receive the support they need. Importantly, these family-focused deductions have no income requirements, making them accessible to a wider range of residents.
Promoting Health & Wellbeing: Sports, Gyms & Veterinary Care
Murcia is actively promoting public health thru tax incentives. Taxpayers can now deduct expenses related to physical exercise and health-based activities. This includes costs associated with gyms, sports centres, training services from qualified sports coaches, pilates, and yoga classes, as well as membership fees for sports federations. For taxpayers over 65 years of age, the deduction can cover the total amount paid for these activities, encouraging an active lifestyle in later life.
Beyond human health, the wellbeing of our pets is also recognized. A new deduction is available for veterinary expenses incurred for pet care.
Enhanced Support for Disabilities: Increased Deductions & Expanded Limits
The existing deduction for taxpayers with disabilities has been significantly improved. The deduction amount has been increased to €150,and the taxable base limit has been extended to €40,000. This provides greater financial relief to individuals with disabilities and their families.
This increased support extends to rental situations as well. The taxable base limit for the deduction for rental of habitual residence has also been raised to €40,000 for both people with disabilities and large families.
property Transfer Tax (ITP) & Wealth Tax Adjustments
