Murtal sees Slight Dip in Unemployment,Murau Achieves “Full Employment”

While many Styrian districts experienced an uptick in unemployment figures in June, the Murtal region bucked the trend with a marginal decrease of 0.6 percent compared to the previous year. In stark contrast, the neighboring district of Murau is reporting what can only be described as “full employment,” boasting an exceptionally low unemployment rate.
“We’re seeing a lot of proactive engagement from companies working with the AMS to find solutions and retain their employees,” explained AMS manager Sabine gaßner. “The demographic shifts in Murtal are also playing a role in our current positive labor market development.”
Training Participation Declines Slightly Amidst Stable Job Market
In June, 1,510 individuals were registered as unemployed in the Murtal, while Murau recorded 276, marking a 14.5 percent increase for the latter district. Interestingly, both regions observed a slight decrease in the number of participants in training programs. Despite these shifts, the overall job market is described as stable.Approximately 1,000 vacancies are currently available across the region,with most positions needing immediate filling. Notably, the number of available apprenticeships in both Murtal and Murau significantly outstrips the number of young people seeking them.
Murau’s Remarkable “Full Employment” Status Continues
The district of Murau continues to distinguish itself in the Styrian labor landscape.With an unemployment rate of just 2.9 percent in June,the district effectively mirrors a state of “full employment.” This figure places Murau, alongside the Weiz labor market district, at the forefront of employment success across the entire country. For comparative context, Murtal’s unemployment rate stands at 5.1 percent, while Graz and its surrounding areas report 8.5 percent. The Styrian average for June settled at 6 percent,with both Murtal and Murau districts comfortably positioned below this benchmark.
