Museum of Natural History Event Options and Pricing Structures
The Museum of Natural History and Planetarium in Roger Williams Park offers private rental options for weddings, celebrations, corporate gatherings, and private receptions. Standard weekday rentals running Monday through Thursday cost $1,350 for up to four hours, while weekend slots running Friday through Sunday cost $2,000 for the same duration. Renters requiring additional time must pay a $300 hourly fee. Current Providence residents qualify for a 10 percent discount on standard rates, provided they show proof of identification and act as the contracting party.
For meetings, the Museum makes its Education Center available at a rate of $250 per hour, subject to availability. Rentals scheduled on holidays or holiday weekends incur additional fees and remain subject to scheduling availability. Customized planetarium experiences and activities can be added to select rentals for an additional fee when arranged in advance. All event coordination is handled directly through the Museum via email at mnhinfo@providenceri.gov.
Exhibit Hall Layout Restrictions and Setup Requirements
Renters secure private access to two floors of exhibits that function as a backdrop during receptions and social gatherings. Guests may explore the exhibits throughout the event while Museum staff remain onsite. However, the physical layout and nature of the exhibits prevent the facility from accommodating seated dinners or dining table setups. The exhibit halls suit cocktail-style receptions where guests can mingle and view the displays.

Renters must coordinate all catering, beverages, décor, and related event services independently in consultation with Museum staff and in accordance with facility guidelines. Setup and breakdown tasks must fit entirely within the reserved rental window. The Museum does not supply tables or chairs, and heating elements are strictly prohibited inside the exhibit spaces. Event organizers interested in exploring alternative venues within Roger Williams Park can access additional rental listings through the Providence Parks Department.
