Uganda to Supply Maize and Beans to Cuba in Exchange for Medical Supplies

President Yoweri Kaguta museveni has affirmed Uganda’s willingness to provide food aid to Cuba, specifically maize and beans, in a reciprocal agreement for medical supplies. the initiative aims to bolster healthcare delivery in Uganda.
Lt. Gen.James Mugira, Managing Director of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), briefed President Museveni on preliminary discussions held with Cuban officials. These discussions focused on assessing Cuba’s food requirements and identifying the types of medicines and medical equipment they intend to send to Uganda in return.
“These supplies will be directed to the Ministry of Health to enhance healthcare delivery and improve the quality of life of Ugandans,” stated Gen. Mugira, according to a report by Watchdog Uganda.
The meeting included Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero, Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation; Hon. Vincent Bagiire, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Juan Hurberto Macias Pino, Cuban Ambassador-Designate to Uganda; and Mr. Alberto Amros Nunez, Head of the Cuban Sub-Saharan Africa Division.
