Museveni Urges NRM Unity, Focus on wealth Creation in Uganda

president Yoweri Museveni has called on leaders and members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to avoid factionalism within the party and concentrate on the core principles that unite them.
Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony for Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda,Minister for Presidency,in Buyende District,Museveni stressed the importance of patriotism,Pan-Africanism,socio-economic conversion,and democracy. He urged NRM members to prioritize these principles over selfish political interests.
Museveni also reiterated his call for the people of Busoga to prioritize wealth creation to fight poverty. He emphasized the distinction between development, which benefits everyone, and wealth, which is personal prosperity.
He advised Ugandans to actively participate in agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT to combat unemployment, and to embrace government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM).
The president highlighted the limitations of government jobs and pointed out the critically important employment opportunities within the private sector.
Museveni further addressed the issue of free education, urging stakeholders to fully implement the policy in government schools. He mentioned the success of government skilling centers in providing youths with valuable skills and employment opportunities.
Regarding challenges faced by fishing communities, Museveni pledged to meet with stakeholders to find solutions.
He commended Babalanda for her leadership and long-time mobilization efforts for the NRM, also expressing gratitude for her recovery from COVID-19.
“I want to thank my daughter, Babirye, for bringing out the issue about the camps in the NRM… As NRM we beleive in politics of interest, that is why we have the four core principles of Patriotism, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic transformation and democracy,” President Museveni said.
What’s next
President museveni plans to engage with fishing community stakeholders to address their concerns. He also intends to further promote wealth creation initiatives throughout the Busoga sub-region and the rest of uganda.
