Quincy Jones, the renowned musician and 28-time Grammy Award winner, passed away on Sunday, November 11, at his home in the Bel Air Section of Los Angeles, surrounded by his family.
A statement released by the Jones family expressed their grief, saying, “Tonight, it is with overflowing but broken hearts that we share the news of the death of our father and brother Quincy Jones. Although this is a difficult time for our family, we will celebrate his brilliant life and believe that there is no more unique person like him in the world.”
Quincy Jones was born in Chicago in 1933 and began his jazz career in his 20s. With a music career spanning over 75 years, he released more than 10 solo albums and produced records for numerous jazz and pop singers. Additionally, he contributed to the production of soundtracks for over 30 movies.
One of his most notable works was producing the late singer Michael Jackson’s sixth studio album “Thriller” in 1982. The album sold an estimated 6 million copies worldwide and remains the best-selling album in history.
