Latvian Music Awards Expand to Include Industry Conference
Riga, Latvia – The Latvian Music Recording Annual Awards, “Zelta Mikrofons,” is expanding its reach this year with the addition of “Music Lab,” a conference dedicated to the music industry adn export.
Taking place on December 16th, alongside the nominee announcement for the prestigious awards, “Music Lab” aims to foster growth for Latvian artists, producers, and emerging talent. The conference will also explore opportunities for developing and exporting music-related products.
“We want to broaden the impact of ‘Zelta Mikrofons’ this year,” says Agnese Rakovska, board member of the Latvian Association of Sound Recording Producers, Publishers, and Distributors (LaMPA) and a musician. “By adding ‘Music Lab,’ we’re creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and discussion.”
One highlight of the conference will be a panel discussion on Latvian music product export success stories.Representatives from renowned Latvian brands like “Catchbox,” “Erica Synths,” “Sonarworks,” and “Gamechanger Audio” will share their insights. The discussion will be moderated by Kristīne Botros,a singer,music producer,and visual artist currently studying at the royal Swedish Academy of Music.
“Music Lab” will also feature a “speed-dating” session with members of the “Zelta Mikrofons 2025” jury. This unique possibility will allow musicians to connect with jury members, ask questions, and gain valuable insights into the judging criteria.
The conference will delve into the Swedish music export model with a discussion featuring Jan Olof Gullberg, a music production professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and author of the book “Innovation in Music,” and Peter Astedt, a producer, music journalist for ”Musichelp,” and founder of the “Future Echoes” festival.
“Music Lab” will conclude with a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence in the creative industries.
