Teh Musikverein Ternberg, an Austrian music association, is commemorating its 160th anniversary with a three-day festival from friday, September 6th to Sunday, September 8th, 2024, in Ternberg, Ennstal. The event features a diverse lineup of musical performances, including brass bands, rock music, adn conventional Alpine sounds, culminating in a formal ceremony on Sunday.
Friday: “Beats & Brezn” Kickoff
The festivities begin on Friday at 8:00 PM in a marquee with “Beats & Brezn,” a combination of music and Bavarian pretzels. The evening will showcase a blend of brass music, rock guitar, and e-bass from the group “Vöcklahlech,” followed by “Deschowieda,” known for its intensive tuba bass, synthesizers, and lively lyrics.
Saturday: Oktoberfest and Alpine Music
Saturday’s events are themed as an Oktoberfest,starting with a beer-tapping ceremony at 6:30 PM. Following the tapping, “Tegernsee Tanzlmusi,” a seven-member band, will perform traditional Alpine music. The program will also include “absolutely sheet metal,” a unique ensemble featuring four high and four low brass instruments, playing both Bohemian-Moravian brass music and popular party hits.
Sunday: Official Ceremony and Musical Showcase
The official 160th-anniversary ceremony will take place on Sunday at 9:30 AM on the market square in Ternberg.The ceremony will feature a combined performance by over ten music bands, a joint parade, and a morning gathering with the Musikverein Dietach and the “Postwirtmusi.”

The Musikverein Ternberg boasts an average of 55 rehearsals per year and currently has 65 active members.The association has been a continuous presence in the community for 160 years, contributing to the cultural landscape of the Ennstal region.The Verein’s longevity demonstrates a strong tradition of musical engagement and community involvement.
