Elon Musk Blasts Congressional Spending Bill as “Disgusting Abomination”
Updated June 4, 2025
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and former special advisor to President Trump, has launched a scathing
attack on a major congressional spending bill. Musk’s criticism adds fuel to an already heated debate
surrounding the legislation, even as the White House defends the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
Musk took to his social media platform, X, to express his displeasure. He described the bill as a “massive,
outrageous, pork-filled” measure and admonished lawmakers who supported it. This sharp rebuke comes after Musk
ended his tenure as a special government employee last week.
The Trump administration is already on the defensive regarding the bill, which the Congressional Budget Office
estimates will add $3.8 trillion to the national debt over the next decade. While the House approved the
measure in late may, several Senate Republicans have expressed reservations about its impact on the deficit and
provisions that could led to Medicaid coverage losses for millions.

bill is a disgusting abomination.”— elon Musk, via X
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed Musk’s comments during a briefing, stating that the
president is aware of Musk’s stance and that it does not alter his opinion of the bill. The legislation also
includes cuts to clean energy tax credits, which have previously benefited Musk’s electric vehicle company,
Tesla.
the president has recently diverged from Musk’s views on other issues. Trump recently facilitated an agreement
with the united Arab Emirates to construct a large artificial intelligence campus, supported by OpenAI CEO Sam
Altman, a rival of Musk. Additionally, jared Isaacman, reportedly an ally of Musk, was withdrawn as trump’s
nominee for NASA administrator.
What’s next
The Senate is expected to debate the bill in the coming weeks, with its fate uncertain due to Republican
opposition. The outcome could significantly impact the national debt, healthcare access, and the clean energy
sector.
