Musk initially blasted the bill as a “massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill [that] is a disgusting abomination,” in a June 3⁤ post.He specifically called out those who voted in favor, stating, “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.⁢ You know it.”

Senate Republicans⁢ aim to deliver the revised version of the bill to the president by july 4. Spearheaded⁢ by ⁢Senate Budget Commitee Chair Lindsey graham, R-S.C.,the updated bill includes adjustments to Medicaid provider tax rates,cost-sharing for ⁢food benefits, caps on state and local tax (SALT) deductions, and notable cuts ‍to wind and solar incentives.

The revised spending guidelines limit tax credits to renewable energy sites commencing production ‍before 2028,while imposing new taxes⁤ on projects starting after that date. Musk warned that these cuts would favor older ‍industries ⁤at the expense of future-oriented sectors.

The American clean Power Association (ACP) echoed Musk’s concerns. In a statement, ACP CEO Jason Grumet said the new taxes ‍would freeze energy investments, reduce domestic energy production, and increase household energy bills. Grumet described the proposed changes as “midnight dumping,” saying they represent “a punitive tax hike targeting the fastest-growing sectors of our energy industry.”

Grumet also cautioned that the changes could “strand hundreds of billions of dollars in current investments, threaten energy security, undermine growth in domestic manufacturing and land hardest on rural communities who would have been the greatest beneficiaries of clean energy investment.”

Sen.Elizabeth Warren, D-mass., said she was helping to ⁣hold the Senate⁤ “all night” to “FORCE” a full reading of the nearly 1,000-page bill, underscoring the deep divisions surrounding the ⁤legislation.
