Musk, RFK Jr. and other MAGA stars endorse Scott as leader.

November 11, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

Tesla and SpaceX CEOs Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr, along with other MAGA celebrities, called on Republican senators to elect Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) as the next Senate majority leader.

Musk and RFK Jr. are two of Trump’s key allies, including conservative talk show hosts Tucker Carlson and Vivek Ramaswamy, as well as Senate Republican Whip John Thune, R-S. I endorsed Scott in an effort to shake up this elective race. John Cornyn (R-Texas) is considered the frontrunner.

“Rick Scott as Senate Majority Leader!” Musk posted on his social media platform X.

Musk reposted Scott’s pledge to no see.

“Republican senators seeking coveted leadership positions in the United States Senate must agree to a recess appointment (in the Senate!) or they will not be able to get confirmed by the people in a timely manner. Sometimes voting can take more than two years,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

Senate leaders from both parties have agreed in recent years to hold “ceremonial” meetings every few days during extended recesses to prevent a sitting president from making emergency appointments.

Senate majority leaders from both parties, whether incumbent Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) or Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), are holding a special session when their party controls Congress when he takes control of the chamber’s agenda. agreed to open . The White House has tried to get the Senate minority to agree to an extended recess of Congress.

Kennedy Jr., who had been promised a high-ranking position in the Trump administration, warned in

Carlson, who has served in the Senate since 2005 and 2002, respectively, has accused Thune and Cornyn, close McConnell allies, of secretly hating Trump.

“What on earth is going on in the United States Senate? Hours after Donald Trump gained his most decisive mandate in 40 years, Mitch McConnell plans a coup against his agenda by calling an early leadership election in the Senate. “Two out of three candidates hate Trump and what he’s doing,” Carlson posted on X.

Thune and Cornyn have clashed with Trump in the past, but are promising to work closely with him if elected Senate majority leader.

Thune spoke with Trump the day after he won the election and visited him at Mar-a-Lago in March to mend fences.

Cornyn recently spent time with Trump in Austin, Texas, and attended a rally with Trump in Reno last month.

Vivek Ramaswamy, who could take a senior position in the Trump administration, also supported Scott.

“I said it earlier this year and I will say it again,” Ramaswamy said of X. @ScottforFlorida is the Senate Majority Leader,” he posed.

But Trump, the biggest star in the MAGA world, has yet to secure support in the Senate leadership race.

Last week, Thune and his allies called on Trump to withdraw from the leadership race, a call that figures close to the president-elect appear to have ignored.

“I am in regular contact with him and his team. Of course, he can have a lot of influence if he wants to. But honestly, I think my preference would be his. It’s in my best interest to stay out of (the race),” Thune told CNBC’s Joe Kernen.

“This Senate secret ballot election is probably best left to the senators. “Once everything is decided and done, he will have to work with all of us,” he said.

Trump supported Scott when he challenged McConnell for Senate Republican leadership after the 2022 midterm elections, which increased Democrats’ Senate majority to 51.

McConnell easily defeated Scott by a vote of 36-10.

Several Republican senators allied with MAGA also announced their support for Scott over the weekend, including Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.).

“This new majority leader must be able to work with President Trump to advance his America First agenda. The Senate must do its part to advance this agenda. That’s why I’d like to meet a Senate Majority Leader who can join me in embracing a Trump agenda that will unite Senate Republicans. I’ll be voting for Rick Scott on Wednesday.” Hagerty posted on

The Tennessee senator is also believed to be on the shortlist to serve in Trump’s cabinet.

Tuberville argued that Scott might best deliver the consequences of Trump’s “orders.”

“The state passed the order on Tuesday. They want @realdonaldtrump’s America First agenda and they want it now,” he posted on X.

“sen. Rick Scott represents millions of Americans from Alabama to California who voted for a unified Republican government. “I’m happy to support you,” he wrote.

Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) also expressed support for Scott over the weekend.

Rubio posted to

Lee, who nominated Scott as leader when running against McConnell in 2022, wrote: “Rick Scott speaks the truth.”

Republican senators are scheduled to convene at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to elect new leadership.

McConnell is retiring as Senate Republican leader after 18 years. He said he would serve the remainder of his Senate term until 2026.
