Musk blasts Congressional Spending Bill as “debt Slavery”
Updated June 05, 2025
Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur, has launched an attack on a $4 trillion congressional spending bill, branding it “debt slavery” and warning of fiscal disaster. Musk is using his social media platform to rally opposition to the bill, which he says will bankrupt America.
Musk’s criticism focuses on the bill’s expansion of Trump-era tax cuts, increased defense spending, and a rise in the debt ceiling. he argues that the legislation will lead to a massive increase in the national debt, potentially exceeding $5 trillion.
The former head of DOGE, Musk is not only criticizing the bill but also targeting Republican lawmakers who support it. He has threatened to fund primary challenges against those who back the legislation, turning his financial resources against his former allies.
“This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk posted on X. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong.”
The White House has downplayed Musk’s criticism.Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it ”one big, beautiful bill.” Some senators have also dismissed Musk’s concerns, with Sen. Kevin Cramer saying that few senators are interested in what musk has to say.
What’s next
The spending bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate, where it will likely face stiff opposition. Musk’s vocal opposition and potential financial backing of primary challengers could further complicate the bill’s passage.
