Myanmar Coach Praises Team’s Performance Despite Loss to Indonesia
Yangon, myanmar – Despite a 0-1 loss to Indonesia in their opening Group B match of the 2024 AFF Championship,Myanmar coach Myo Hlaing Win expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance.
“We played the way we wanted, and that makes me happy with the team’s performance,” Win said, highlighting the pressure his young squad put on Indonesia, who fielded a largely inexperienced lineup.
Myanmar created several scoring opportunities in the first half but failed to capitalize. “We created many chances in the first half, but we couldn’t score. We were unlucky, even though we deserved a goal,” Win lamented.
He acknowledged that Indonesia’s superior bench depth proved to be a decisive factor. “Indonesia was stronger in terms of substitutes,” Win admitted. “They brought on players like Asnawi Mangkualam and Rafael Struick in the second half, which changed the game.”
Win believes his team lacked the same quality of replacements, ultimately contributing to their defeat.
The loss puts Myanmar under pressure to secure points in their remaining group stage matches.
