Mysterious Skies: French Airlines Grounds Flights Over Red Sea After Bizarre ‘Luminous Object’ Sighting in Sudan
Yesterday, Sunday, Air France announced that it was suspending its flights “until further notice” over the Red Sea, as a precautionary measure after its crew reported the presence of what it described as a “luminous object” over Sudan Air France (Air France ) that the route Some of its flights may have changed and some aircraft may have returned to the airports they started from.
This came after the company monitored a “luminous object at high altitude” in Sudan, without explaining its nature or mentioning when it would resume its flights over the region.

An aviation source told Agence France-Presse that Air France is the only airline that has taken this precautionary measure, adding that the airspace over the region has not been closed.
This comes in light of Ansar Allah’s (Houthis) continued targeting of ships linked to Israel in the Red Sea for a year in solidarity with Palestine, and the attacks have greatly disrupted maritime navigation.
Sudan has also been experiencing battles since mid-April 2023 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
