Ke Wenzhe’s Detention Sparks Controversy and Support
Popular Party Chairman Ke Wenzhe was recently detained in connection with the Beijing City scandal, sparking a wave of controversy and support from his fans and fellow politicians.
Internet celebrity curator Chen Zhihan, who had previously visited the North Campus to support Ke Wenzhe, started a live broadcast on the evening of the 5th to give an “explanation” to Ke Wenzhe. Chen Zhihan stated that he had decided not to go to the North Medical Examiner’s office and instead took to the streets to show his support.
During the live broadcast, Chen Zhihan released a video that Ke Wenzhe had recorded in advance for his supporters. In the video, Ke Wenzhe urged his supporters to “take care of yourself” and ”live each day with joy.” He also encouraged them to “work hard” and “keep working hard” despite the challenges they may face.
Chen Zhihan, who has been a long-time supporter of Ke Wenzhe, criticized Taiwan’s “profit crime” system, which he believes is unique in the world and not even found in developed countries like Japan and the United States. He also expressed his frustration with the situation, stating that he was “ready to support Ke Wenzhe from the first day” and that he believed the detention was a form of “political oppression.”
However, not everyone is supportive of Ke Wenzhe and Chen Zhihan’s actions. Some people have taken to social media to criticize the curator, accusing him of inciting violence and disrupting public order. Chen Zhihan has responded to these criticisms, stating that he is simply exercising his right to free speech and assembly.
During the live broadcast, Chen Zhihan suddenly received a “mysterious phone call” from Huang Guochang, although the content of the conversation was not disclosed.
