Nadech and Yaya Prepare for Traditional Isan Wedding in Khon Kaen

Nadech Kugimiya and Yaya Urassaya Sperbund are beginning their wedding celebrations with a ceremony in Khon Kaen Province on April 17, 2026. This initial event is the first in a series of three planned celebrations, which will also include a main wedding ceremony in Norway and a thank-you reception for guests in Bangkok.

The couple shared these updates after attending the 56th Anniversary Celebration of Channel 3 Land Dom, held at Suphachalasai Stadium. They emphasized that all three of their upcoming events are intended to remain modest and intimate.

Traditional Isan Celebrations in Khon Kaen

The event on April 17, 2026, will be conducted in a true Isan style, reflecting the traditions of Northeastern Thailand. The ceremony will incorporate specific regional rituals, including su kwan and su khor.

Yaya Urassaya described the theme for the engagement and ceremony as Back to Nature. To align with this vision, the couple opted for natural materials in their preparations, specifically incorporating rice stalks into the design.

This nature-focused approach extended to the wedding invitations. Yaya provided the original idea for the cards, which were then developed by a card team using references the couple brainstormed together. Nadech stated that the final result exceeded their expectations.

Adding a lighthearted element to the traditional proceedings, Yaya mentioned that she has already set conditions for the traditional procession. She informed her friends that they will need to provide at least 10 envelopes before the door will be opened.

Global Wedding Sequence

While the celebrations start in Khon Kaen, the couple has structured their wedding across three distinct locations to accommodate different aspects of their lives and guests.

• Bangkok: A thank-you reception dedicated to their guests.

Regarding the Bangkok reception, the couple noted that final decisions on the guest list have not yet been made. They indicated that because the Bangkok event is still approximately one year away, there is ample time to finalize the details.

Personal Preparations and Reflections

Despite the planning progress, Nadech admitted to feeling some anxiety as the date approaches. His concerns primarily center on whether the event will run smoothly and adhere to the planned schedule.

Nadech is also focusing on his physical preparation to ensure he looks his best in the traditional Isan attire. He revealed that he is currently attempting to lose weight, noting that he had gained weight after competing in Hyrox.

Yaya expressed a different perspective on her readiness, stating she has been ready for over 10 years. However, she admitted that their initial relaxed approach to planning may have been too passive.

Looking back, she wishes they had been less relaxed since some tasks remain unfinished, but she is happy to be getting married.

To further prepare for her role as a bride, Yaya revealed her intention to attend bridal courses to ensure she looks stunning for the wedding festivities.

The couple indicated that most of the invitations have already been sent out, with only a few remaining. They confirmed that the venue and wedding planner for the Khon Kaen event have been finalized, and preparations for that specific ceremony are nearly complete.
