Artist Nahed El Sebai Addresses Backlash Over On-Stage Interaction with Huria Farghali
Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian artist Nahed El Sebai has responded to criticism following an incident at the “Cairo Short Film Festival” were he appeared to refuse a kiss from fellow artist Huria Farghali during an interview. The video sparked outrage online,with many accusing El sebai of disrespecting Farghali.
El Sebai took to Instagram to clarify the situation, stating, “The issue is huge, but I understand the impact of my actions and I wont to clarify the current situation.I respect all my colleagues in the industry and I do not intend to cause any offense and I want to clear up the misunderstanding as I am surprised by the response.”
He explained that the incident occurred in the middle of a live interview, and he chose not to interrupt the flow by greeting Farghali. “It was an automatic response and so I decided to write a simple response so that everyone would understand the situation later when we were on stage. Greet each othre,” El Sebai added.

El Sebai’s latest project is the film “pasha’s Daughters,” a drama set in Tanta, Egypt, featuring a star-studded cast including Zeina, Sabrin, and Maryam Al-Khasht. Based on Nora Nazir’s novel of the same name, the film explores the complex relationships between women working in a hair salon and unravels a shocking murder mystery.
