Luxembourg City, Luxembourg – Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was hospitalized in Luxembourg on Friday after sustaining an injury during a bipartisan congressional delegation trip commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
Pelosi, 84, is “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals,” according to her spokesperson, Ian Krager.
The injury occurred during an official engagement while Pelosi was in Luxembourg with a group of lawmakers honoring the courage of American servicemembers who fought in the historic battle.
“While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation in luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” Krager said in a statement.

Pelosi, whose uncle served in World War II, was part of a delegation of 18 congressmen and lawmakers from both parties visiting Belgium and Luxembourg to pay tribute to veterans and commemorate the sacrifices made during the Battle of the bulge.
Before the injury, Pelosi was photographed standing and holding hands with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman michael McCaul (R-Texas), who led the delegation.
Pelosi’s office had emphasized her commitment to honoring the bravery of American veterans and the crucial role played by the people of luxembourg and Bastogne in securing peace in Europe ahead of the trip.
Krager reiterated this sentiment in his statement, noting that Pelosi “was personally and officially honored to travel with the distinguished delegation, manny of whom had family members who fought in World War II. she looks forward to returning home to the U.S.soon.”
Despite the hospitalization, Pelosi is continuing to work remotely.
