Naples, italy – Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has praised an unauthorized artwork depicting a vagina, displayed for an hour by Milanese artist adn activist Cristina donati Meyer. Teh piece appeared alongside an installation by artist Gaetano Pesce, which unintentionally resembled a phallus and has become a viral sensation.
“I believe that art,especially contemporary art – but even if we think of classical art,when it was contemporary in its eras – has always been conflict,provocation,debate,” Manfredi said.”So, I see this initiative in a positive way.”
The unauthorized vagina installation was ultimately removed by police. However, Manfredi highlighted the importance of the artist’s choice too display the work in Naples.
