Napoli’s January transfer window has closed with limited major acquisitions, despite initial activity and a period of partial restrictions. The club saw outgoings in the form of loan deals for Noa Lang and Lorenzo Lucca, while sporting director Giovanni Manna secured the arrivals of Giovane from Verona and Alisson Santos from Sporting Lisbon.

The club also facilitated loan moves for Ambrosino to Serie B side Modena and Luca Marianucci to Torino, bolstering the latter’s defensive options. Looking ahead, Napoli have secured the services of young Argentinian talent Milton Pereyra from Boca Juniors, who will initially join the Primavera squad to continue his development.

The transfer window officially closed on February 2nd at 20:00 CET (19:00 GMT), according to reports from Football Italia. This deadline marked the end of a period of intense activity across Serie A, with several clubs seeking to strengthen their squads.

Napoli were linked with potential moves for several players throughout January, including Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta and Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri, alongside Juventus. However, these moves did not materialize before the window’s closure. The club also reportedly considered a move for Boca Juniors winger Exequiel Zeballos, as reported by Calciomercato.com.

Several players arrived at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona during the window. Sam Beukema joined from Bologna, Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese, Noa Lang from PSV and Miguel Gutiérrez from Girona. Vanja Milinković-Savić arrived on loan from Torino, as did Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese. Luca Marianucci joined from FC Empoli, Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United on loan, and Alisson Santos from Sporting Lisbon on loan. Eljif Elmas also arrived on loan from Leipzig, Giovane from Hellas Verona, Mathias Ferrante from NovaRomentin, and Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City on a free transfer. Emanuele Rao also joined on a free transfer from SPAL.

The club also saw several loan deals expire, including those of Victor Osimhen (to Galatasaray), Jesper Lindstrøm (to Everton), Jens Cajuste (to Ipswich), Natan (to Real Betis), Elia Caprile (to Cagliari), Cyril Ngonge (to Torino), Michael Folorunsho (to Fiorentina), Alessandro Zanoli (to Genoa), Alessio Zerbin (to Venezia), and Gianluca Gaetano (to Cagliari). Walid Cheddira’s loan also concluded with Espanyol.

Giovanni Manna, Napoli’s sporting director, acknowledged the club’s openness to various transfer solutions during the January window, as reported by Yahoo Sports. This suggests a flexible approach to squad building, adapting to opportunities as they arose.

Inter Milan were also reportedly monitoring Alexander Stankovic, son of Dejan Stankovic, currently at Club Brugge, potentially signaling a future move. Juventus, meanwhile, continued their pursuit of Brooke Norton-Cuffy, but Genoa reportedly demanded €20 million for the English full-back, a figure Juventus were attempting to negotiate down through a loan with an option to buy.

Milan also focused on securing the future of Strahinja Pavlovic, initiating contract renewal talks to ward off interest from Premier League clubs. Roma were actively pursuing reinforcements, reportedly targeting both Dean Dragusin and Filip Tell from Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Donyell Malen who joined on loan from Aston Villa and Robinio Vaz from Olympique Marseille on a permanent deal.

The January transfer window saw a flurry of activity across Serie A, with clubs vying to strengthen their squads for the remainder of the season. Napoli’s activity, while not as dramatic as some of their rivals, reflects a strategic approach to squad management, balancing immediate needs with long-term development. The arrival of Milton Pereyra underscores the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent within its Primavera system.
