Igniting a Passion for Science: The Little Star Contest
The National Astronomy Institute (NARI) of Thailand recently concluded its third annual “Astronomical Communist” competition – officially known as the Little Star Contest 2025 – at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. The contest aims too cultivate a new generation of science communicators capable of making complex astronomical concepts accessible and engaging for all.
dr. wutipu jojapakarn, Director of NARI, emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping the future of science. “What children are doing today is as importent as the work of current adults,” he stated, “because the world in the next 30 years will be in their hands. Astronomy, in particular, helps society recognize the value and necessity of scientific foundations.” He also expressed gratitude to parents and teachers for their support of the initiative.
Competition Details and Results
The little Star Contest 2025 accepted video submissions from young astronomers across Thailand, divided into two categories: primary and elementary school. More than 140 entries were received, with five finalists selected from each category to compete in the final round held on August 11th at the National Science and Technology Fair.
