NASCAR Champions Week 2024: Celebrating Joey Logano and Team Penske’s Historic Triumph
NASCAR Champions Week 2024 Overview
NASCAR celebrates its 2024 champions this week in Charlotte, N.C. This event marks the first time NASCAR’s Champions Week takes place in its hub city. The celebration culminates in the NASCAR Awards ceremony at the Charlotte Convention Center’s Grand Ballroom on Friday. Fans can watch the event on the CW Network, airing Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
Joey Logano from Team Penske is this year’s NASCAR Cup Series champion. He has won championships in three different cities: Las Vegas (2018), Nashville (2022), and now Charlotte. In the Phoenix season finale, Logano outpaced his Penske teammate Ryan Blaney, who finished as the runner-up. The Championship Four also included William Byron from Hendrick Motorsports and Tyler Reddick from 23XI Racing.
Logano expressed excitement about the Playoffs and the victory, noting, “We have three of them [championships]. That’s really special.” His win is significant as it marks Team Penske’s third consecutive championship. Logano becomes the first Ford driver to win three titles and is the tenth driver in NASCAR history to achieve this feat. He has the most championships among active full-time drivers.
Champions Week honors more than just Logano’s triumph. It acknowledges drivers, teams, and series across NASCAR. Chase Elliott, who has won the National Motorsports Press Association’s Most Popular Driver Award for six years in a row, will also be recognized.
The week highlights special awards, including the Comcast Community Champion of the Year and the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award. This year’s finalists for the humanitarian award include individuals who make positive impacts in children’s lives.
Upcoming award presentations will include the Bill France Award of Excellence and the NMPA Myers Brothers Award. The formal celebrations begin on Thursday with the recognition of NASCAR’s regional and international series.
Fans will enjoy a special “Insider Experience” event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Friday, featuring driver meet-and-greet opportunities and a watch party for the NASCAR Awards ceremony.
This week represents a celebration of achievements in NASCAR, fostering excitement and community among fans and drivers alike.
