National Regional CL Kicks Off: VONDS Dominates in Round One
On August 8th, the first day of the first round of the National Regional Soccer Champions League (National Regional CL), players competed to qualify for next season’s JFL at three venues across the country. VONDS Ichihara (Chiba), who won this season’s Kanto League, started strong with a comfortable 4-0 victory in their Group B match against FC Kariya (Aichi), who qualified for this tournament by placing 4th in the National Adult Soccer Tournament.
VONDS took the lead in the 7th minute with a header from FW Kaito Suzuki, and FW Tatsuichi Ichiki added another point in the 23rd minute. In the second half, midfielder Daiki Numa and forward Yuji Kato scored goals to seal the victory.

In the other Group B match, Asuka FC (Kansai/Nara) defeated Brandieu Hirosaki (Tohoku/Aomori) 3-2. Just before the end of the game, tied at 2-2, Ryuseki Kiyokawa made a mid-range shot to take the lead. Tomorrow’s second match card features VONDS Ichihara vs. Asuka FC and FC Kariya vs. Brandieu Hirosaki.
A total of 12 teams, including the winning teams from the nine regional leagues nationwide and the top teams from the national adult tournament, will compete for promotion to the JFL. In the first round, teams will be divided into three groups of four and compete in a league match, with the top four teams (first place in each group and second place in each group) advancing to the final round. The final round is also a league match, with the 1st place being automatically promoted to the JFL, and the 2nd place going to a playoff against the lowest-placed team in the JFL for a promotion spot.
