Brady House Makes MLB Debut as Nationals⁢ Seek to Define⁣ His Role

Washington – The Washington Nationals are looking to the future, calling ⁢up third baseman Brady House from Triple-A Rochester on Monday. House, the team’s No. 3 prospect, immediately‌ joined the lineup against⁢ the Colorado Rockies, marking his major league debut.

The highly touted House, selected 11th overall in the 2021 ⁣draft, went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. His debut coincided with the Nationals’ ninth consecutive loss, a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Rockies, dropping their record to 30-42.

House had one notable ⁢at-bat in the ⁤ninth, hitting a sharp grounder with a runner on‌ first.​ Though,it resulted in‍ a double play after Rockies second baseman Orlando Arcia made the play.

In other roster moves, the Nationals recalled outfielder daylen Lile from Rochester. They also⁤ optioned outfielder Robert Hassell III and infielder Jose Tena ⁣to Triple-A. Infielder Juan Yepez⁣ was designated for assignment.

Lile, who debuted in May, provided a bright spot, hitting his first major league home run in the fifth inning against Colorado.

Prior ⁢to his⁣ promotion, the⁤ 22-year-old house showcased ⁣his potential at Triple-A, leading the nationals’ minor league system with 13 home runs, 41 RBIs, a .519 slugging percentage,and an ⁣.872 OPS across ​65 games.

Hassell, another rookie,⁤ had a .218 average with one home run and​ eight RBIs in 21 games.Tena ⁢batted.248 in 44 games for Washington ⁣this ​season.
