Teenager Dies in Navan Hit-and-Run; Man in 20s Arrested
A 16-year-old girl has died following a hit-and-run incident in Navan, County Meath, on Saturday evening. Gardaí have arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the investigation.
The incident occurred on the Slane Road at approximately 8:20 PM. According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene after the collision.
The injured girl was immediately transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead. The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination, and local diversions are currently in place.
A man in his 20s has been taken into custody, and a car has been seized as part of the ongoing investigation. Gardaí are appealing to the public for assistance, specifically requesting anyone with camera footage – including dash-cam recordings – from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
