NBA trade Rumors: Durant, Antetokounmpo, and Garland on the Block?
Updated June 07, 2025
As the NBA Finals unfold, speculation about offseason player movement is reaching fever pitch. Shams Charania of ESPN has suggested this could be the most active summer ever for trades and free agency. The NBA Draft is set for June 25-26, with free agency unofficially beginning July 1 and deals finalized July 6. While the free agent class lacks top-tier talent, restricted free agents Josh Giddey and Jonathan Kuminga add intrigue.
One of the biggest storylines revolves around Kevin Durant. The Phoenix Suns forward is widely expected to be traded, and several teams are reportedly interested. John Gambadoro reported Durant mentioned the San Antonio Spurs as a possible destination. The toronto Raptors are also in the mix, with insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer identifying them as a potential landing spot. While the Houston Rockets remain a logical fit, reports about their interest are conflicting.
Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks is uncertain. Despite concerns about the Bucks’ ability to contend following Damian Lillard’s Achilles injury, Jake Fischer reports there’s little expectation Antetokounmpo will request a trade. The New York Knicks, who previously traded a package for Mikal Bridges, are unlikely to acquire Antetokounmpo.
In Cleveland, the Cavaliers are evaluating their roster after a disappointing playoff exit. Brian Windhorst of ESPN suggested that All-Star point guard Darius Garland could be available in a trade. Garland’s injury impacted the Cavaliers’ playoff performance, and a trade could bring back a young player and a draft pick.
“I think there’s some belief that Darius Garland might be available under the right circumstances… I think the Cavs are listening and open minded,” – @WindhorstESPN.
