Methodist Health System,based in Omaha,Nebraska,will see a change in leadership at the end of the year. Steve Goeser, the current President and CEO, announced his retirement, effective December 31st, marking the conclusion of a 21-year commitment to the institution.
A Proven Successor Named
The Board of Directors has appointed Josie Abboud as Goeser’s successor, as detailed in an October 1st declaration. Abboud currently serves as Executive Vice President, a role she assumed in July 2024, and has previously held the position of President and CEO of both Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital since 2018.
Goeser’s Legacy of Growth
During his tenure as CEO since 2017,Goeser spearheaded notable advancements for the health system. These included the complete integration of Methodist Fremont Health,the construction of a new corporate headquarters,and a substantial $90 million renovation and expansion of the surgical facilities at Methodist Hospital. He also guided strategic planning and expansions at Methodist Women’s Hospital.
Abboud’s Deep Roots in the System
Josie Abboud brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having dedicated her career to Methodist Health System as 1996. She began as a critical care staff nurse and progressively advanced through leadership positions, including Service Executive, Vice President, Executive Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
