In the Göppingen derby, which resumed after three years, the two teams entered the game with high expectations and had a fierce battle. Göppingen initially took a 4-2 lead thanks to the day’s top scorer Sina Ehmann, but Neckarsulm gradually took control from the middle and went up 9-2 with a goal from Rabea Pollakowski. 9 tied the score.

Neckarsulm goalkeepers Lena Ivancok and Johanna Fossum made increasingly good saves and showed a high success rate in attacks. Neckarsulm took the lead just before the end of the first half thanks to Angunn Gudmestad’s performance, and ended the first half with a one-goal lead, 16-15, thanks to Vasiliki Gkatziou’s goal.

At the start of the second half, Neckarsulm took a three-goal lead, 20-17, in the 37th minute thanks to Munia Smits’ goal. Göppingen also did not give up and caught up and tied the score, but Neckarsulm fought back more aggressively and took the lead by 25-22 with goals from Munia Smitz and Sinah Hagen.

With 7 minutes left until the end, Neckarsulm was in control with a 28-24 lead, but was unable to score a goal and Göppingen followed up with one goal at a time, leading to a tense situation.

To make matters worse, Munia Smits was sent off for two minutes in a row, receiving a red card and being sent off. Göppingen trailed to 28-27 with 34 seconds left, but Neckarsulm held on to one goal until the end and achieved a dramatic victory.

“I’m very happy to get two points today,” Neckarsulm coach Thomas Zeitz told Bundesliga. It showed how much our team fought to win the derby. “We had some disappointments in defense in the first half, but we got better towards the end of the game and I think we ended up with a deserved win.”

As a result, Neckarsulm ranked 9th with 2 wins and 4 losses (4 points), and Göppingen ranked 10th with 1 win and 4 losses (2 points).
