Neeraj Chopra Classic to Boost Indian Athletics on July 5

India is set to host the inaugural Neeraj chopra Classic, its first international javelin competition, on July 5, 2025. The event, a collaboration between JSW sports and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, will take place at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) and World Athletics (WA) have sanctioned the Neeraj Chopra Classic,marking it as the highest-tier international athletics meet ever held in India.The competition holds a World Athletics ‘A’ category or Continental Tour Gold-level designation.
The event was initially scheduled for May 24 in Panchkula, Haryana, but was moved to Bengaluru due to lighting concerns. The date was later shifted to July 5.
The inaugural Classic will feature 12 athletes, including Neeraj chopra, Anderson Peters of Grenada, Thomas Rohler of Germany, and Julius Yego of Kenya. Indian athletes Kishore Jena, Sachin Yadav, Rohit Yadav, and Sahil Silwal will also participate in the javelin competition.
“The Neeraj Chopra Classic is not just a competition; it’s where every javelin doesn’t just land on the ground but writes history,” Chopra said.
