Snooker world number one prospects have sparked a direct clash after Neil Robertson branded rival Judd Trump as clueless for questioning his ranking position. Robertson holds 26 career ranking titles and sits fourth in the World Snooker Tour rankings, trailing third-placed Trump by just £13,850 and world leader Zhao Xintong by £165,350.
Judd Trump Claims Saudi Arabia Win Carries Robertson in Rankings
Trump argued in September that Robertson has not been consistent enough to justify holding such a high ranking position. The Englishman claimed that Robertson’s £500,000 victory at the Saudi Arabia Masters last season was doing too much heavy lifting for his ranking points. Neil Robertson Fires Back at Rival Comments
Robertson has hit back at those assertions by pointing to his wider tournament record, which includes winning the World Grand Prix and the English Open in 2024, alongside semi-final runs at the UK Championship and Tour Championship. The Australian player revealed he confronted Trump directly about the remarks. I spoke to Judd and said,
Robertson said in an interview with Metro. Robertson also noted that he was ranked eighth before winning the Saudi Arabia event, arguing that his points tally remains high even when removing that tournament. What are you doing?

Rankings Race at the Upcoming UK Championship
Robertson first claimed the world number one spot in 2010 after winning the World Snooker Championship and spent 69 weeks at the top. The Melbourne-born player is currently aiming to add another major title to his resume at the upcoming UK Championship in York, which runs at the end of November. The tournament offers a top prize of £312,500, with £125,000 going to the runner-up. Deep runs at the UK Championship and The Masters in January will give Robertson an opportunity to overtake Trump and challenge Zhao Xintong for the top ranking.
