Neko Health, a Swedish preventive healthcare startup co-founded by Spotify creator Daniel Ek, has opened its first United States location in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. The facility offers a 60-minute comprehensive health screening that integrates radiation-free imaging, blood analysis, and cardiac testing, aiming to provide a data-driven snapshot of a patient’s current health status and future risks.
The Neko Health Screening Experience
The Neko screening process consists of eight distinct diagnostic elements performed within a single visit. Patients undergo 3-D, 2-D, and thermal imaging to map skin markings and moles. According to the company, these technologies identified 1,596 skin markings on one participant during a recent session. Following the imaging, patients receive a blood assessment covering 50 biomarkers, with samples processed through an onsite laboratory.
Further diagnostics include a 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor cardiac rhythm and a four-point blood pressure test taken at both the biceps and ankles. The assessment also utilizes laser-radar technology to evaluate macrovascular function in the heart’s major vessels and laser-based tissue imaging to measure microcirculatory performance in the soles of the feet. These results are compiled into a digital report accessible via a mobile application, intended to provide patients with actionable insights alongside a consultation with a medical professional.
Market Context and Preventive Healthcare Trends
Neko enters a fragmented preventive health sector in the U.S. that includes services like Galleri for cancer detection, Prenuvo for MRI imaging, and various concierge medical practices. Jordan Shlain, MD, a physician who operates the concierge company Private Medical, characterizes the rise of such services as a response to systemic limitations.
Neko is a symptom of a market failure. Financial incentives in our medical sector favor specialized treatment above all else, leaving family medicine—the branch designed to understand your baseline and catch issues early—severely underfunded for decades. Tapping into the growing enthusiasm for longevity and preventative measures, Neko steps into this void offering sophisticated tech and an appointment lasting an hour.

Operational Scale and Expansion Plans
The company launched in Sweden in 2023 and has since expanded operations into England. Neko reports that more than 100,000 members have undergone their screening process to date. Data provided by the company indicates that approximately 75 percent of initial participants return for a follow-up scan within 12 months.
Neko CEO and co-founder Hjalmar Nilsonne stated the company’s objective is to provide a comprehensive health picture to help individuals understand where their health is heading.
Over the past few years, our team has focused on a straightforward inquiry: Could one appointment deliver an in-depth overview of your current well-being, its trajectory moving forward, and an actionable roadmap designed by a clinician to alter future outcomes?

Following the Soho launch, Neko has outlined plans for further U.S. expansion. The company intends to open additional centers in New York City, followed by locations in Miami, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco over the coming year. The cost for the comprehensive screening is set at $499.
