Netanyahu Speaks Out on Nasrallah’s Death
(Central News Agency, Jerusalem, Widespread Foreign News Report on the 28th) After Lebanese Hezbollah leader Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu today issued a relevant statement for the first time, noting that Nasrallah’s death was urgent for Israel to achieve its goals and facilitate the release of hostages held in Gaza.
“We are settling old scores with the perpetrators of the murders of countless Israelis and citizens of other countries,” Benjamin Netanyahu said, AFP reported.
Netanyahu said that as long as the “terrorist” Hassan Nasrallah lives, Hezbollah will quickly restore its capabilities, which have been weakened by Israeli attacks in recent days “therefore, I have given the order (to kill Nasrallah)”.
According to Netanyahu, killing the Hezbollah leader is crucial to achieving Israel’s goals.
“Eliminating Nasralli is a necessary condition for achieving the goals we have set,” he said, referring to the safe return of northern Israelis to their homes and a long-term shift in the regional balance of power.
Netanyahu noted that Israel, which is committed to fighting its enemies, appears to be at a historic turning point.
Netanyahu also mentioned that Nasrel’s death would also help free the hostages held by the Palestinian Islamist organization ‘Hamas’.
He said: “The more (Hamas leader) Yahya Sinwar sees that Hezbollah can no longer provide support, the more likely we will be to release the hostages.”
Nasrallah’s Leadership and Legacy
Nasralal had led Hezbollah for 32 years before he was killed in an Israeli airstrike, and his speeches were so charismatic that even his enemies admired him.
